History of GAZ 21 pickup

A bit of history

The history of the  first pickups  in the USSR started from such a vehicle, as  GAS-4, which has been manufactured from 1933 to 1937. GAS-4 was a modified  GAS  and the cabin was equipped with  GAS  AA. Its capacity was only 500 kg, but here there  benches to 6 people, and could be combined.

Then there were several attempts of making more powerful and advanced models of the pickups, including our GAZ-21 pickup. Now, unfortunately, such pickups now, however, those who want such a model, try to do it from a normal used car GAZ 21 Volga, which you can buy at a very low price.

The first version of the pickup was a car designed for  cross snow-covered roads. Its distinctive feature was the presence of  the skis instead of front steering wheels

The second option was closed passenger five-seater body, which was taken from the model GAZ-M1 and very well-suited for GAZ-21.

So ended our acquaintance with stunning car GAZ-21. This model deservedly be called the pride of the Soviet automobile industry, it is no accident that all test-drives and verification of GAS pickup took place on the "excellent".
